Easy and Cheap DIY Carafe

I think the glass Voss bottles have such a simple yet elegant design. You can usually purchase a bottle from a grocery or convenience store for less than $3. Use it as a carafe next to your bed or anything you  want.

Supplies Needed:
Glass Voss Bottle
Cup or mug
Brillo pad or knife
Gloves

I got mine for free from an event I attended. Since the label is not a sticker, I thought it would be a difficult task to remove and my search online recommended a chemical soak. Since I plan to drink from the bottle, this was not an option. I tried using a Brillo pad to scrape off the ink and it worked! A more efficient method would actually be to use a knife. Use gloves to protect you hands and steady the bottle (rubber kitchen gloves make it easier to grip the bottle). I angled it so that it was about 60 degrees from the surface of the bottle and scraped away.  Voila! A beautiful bottle to fill.

Since the bottle top is flat, I flipped a mug on top of the bottle. Then I purchased this cute cup from Ikea for about $2.

No more trips in the middle of the night to get water and no more stray glasses of water all over my room!
